WPS Powerhouse

Wausau, WI

The WPS Powerhouse project involves the transformation of a historic power plant, originally constructed between 1904 and 1918, with minimal updates since the 1980s.  The current project scope involves renovating approximately 4,300 square feet on two of the four levels of the building to be repurposed as a hub for businesses and community engagement.  The renovation will include ADA upgrades to the vestibule and introduction of a wheelchair lift between two levels, a flexible presentation space, updated offices available for rent, finish upgrades throughout, adding a new restroom, new energy efficient doors and windows, as well as HVAC, plumbing and electrical upgrades.  The project places a strong emphasis on preserving the site’s historical significance by salvaging and repurposing original Ringle brick, exposed steel structures, and other elements.
