Project includes a 81,120 SF new building addition to the existing County Courthouse and Law Enforcement Facility. The new building will house Calumet County Sheriff’s Office, Jail (88 beds single bunked / 120 beds double bunked), Jail Administration, Emergency Management Office, EOC and Dispatch, and an indoor parking garage. Also included is a new freight elevator on the east façade of the existing courthouse building. The work includes all associated detention, food service, laundry, fire protection, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, technology, security and site work. Selective demolition work to existing jail and other associated areas on lower level and first floor was included.
Future plans involve courthouse remodeling which include security upgrades to the courts lobby entrance, Clerk of Courts, Register in Probate, and District Attorney, as well as updates for new receiving area with loading dock.
