As with many industries, the future of the design and construction industry is being driven by the use of technology. The finest example today is the emergence of 3D, intelligent design information, generally referred to as Building Information Modeling (BIM). In fact, industry experts predict that within 10 years, 3D BIM will be the primary method in which buildings are designed and constructed
What is BIM?
BIM is the use of 3D, intelligent design information, which allows the building to be designed and virtually constructed during the design phase. Walls are no longer just lines on paper, but are truly walls in a 3D virtual building. Each building component is able to be planned and installed in the building model prior to actually pounding nails and pouring concrete. BIM can be used to demonstrate the entire lifecycle of a building including preliminary design, project completion and even facility operations.
Client Benefits

BIM takes teamwork to new levels. This collaborative model-based delivery method allows conflicts to be identified and resolved digitally, before they become larger problems in the field. Clients can view 360-degree models of both the interior and exterior of a proposed building, giving them the ability to visualize traffic flow, lighting, and even color and material choices. The ability to truly visualize a finished project before breaking ground allows The Samuels Group to service clients at an even greater level. Projects can be built faster, with increased quality and reduced project costs. BIM also enhances the ability to deliver buildings that comply with LEED standards, through energy analysis capabilities, in order to deliver more environmentally friendly facilities.
