Keep your car tires properly inflated.  When a tire runs too low on air the sidewall bows out and the tread flattens, which adds grip on sand, snow and mud, but also makes it easier to hydroplane and impairs handling.  The flexing of the rubber heats up the tire and provides more rolling resistance which is bad for tire life and fuel economy.  Check tire pressures regularly and inflate to the recommended level.
