Starbucks recently released it's fiscal 2007 corporate responsibility report and laid out plans it has for becoming an even more environmentally responsible company.

Starbucks plans to cut energy consumption in its stores 25% and buy renewable energy certificates to supply half of the store’s energy needs.  Starbucks is planning a LEED Silver office building in Seattle and a roasting plant in South Carolina which will also meet LEED-Silver standards.

An energy audit of 19 representative stores found ways of reducing energy.  Starbucks has already taken steps to conserve energy such as increasing the temperature in the store from 72 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit on warm days.  65% of the company’s coffee purchases are made through a program that delivers coffee farmers a living wage and ensures that coffee is grown sustainably.
